The RS Fan was originally designed for wood burning applications. However, short flues or designs with termination temperatures exceeding the maximum 480 degrees continuous will contribute to RS fan failures. For wood or high heat the RSHT Fan should be used.

How to ID an RS fan with no tag or ID Plate
The ID tag, usually located on the top of an RS fan, over time, can become illegible due to age or after a high heat event.
To determine the correct RS fan model for parts, first reference a few housing measurements against the RS fan spec chart below.

The RS Chimney Fan mounts outside the chimney at the termination, where it then effectively draws the smoke out from the chimney flue.
An RS chimney fan disperses the smoke sideways (horizontally), just like a standard chimney cap.
The RS is particularly suitable for gas-fired fireplaces and stoves.
For wood burning or higher termination temperatures the RSHT Fans would be more suitable.
