Pizza Oven exhaust with an ENERVEX Fan
For a wood-fired or gas pizza oven, you will need to safely remove smoke, heat, grease vapors, and combustion gases.
If you skip proper exhaust, you’ll run into smoke issues, poor combustion, and likely fail inspection or create a safety hazard.
That’s where pizza oven exhaust with an ENERVEX fan comes in.
Wood-fired oven exhaust (GSV or RSHT)
- These always produce smoke and particulates.
- You’ll need a chimney/flue system, and often an exhaust fan if:
- The chimney is short or has poor natural draft
- The oven is indoors
- You’re getting smoke rollout at the opening
- Inconsistent draft = smoke in the space → not acceptable.
Gas pizza oven exhaust (GSV or RSHT)
- Still produce combustion gases (CO, NOx).
- Require proper venting per code (often a flue or hood system).
- An exhaust fan may be needed to maintain consistent draft and meet code.
Electric pizza oven exhaust
- No combustion gases, but still produce heat and grease vapors.
- Typically require a vent hood, not a chimney.
- Some “ventless” models exist, but they use filters and have strict limits.
Commercial or Residential
( GSV009-016 & GSV200-450 vs RSHT009-016 )
- Commercial ovens: For restaurants or any commercial kitchen application, code and UL Listing requirements need to be satisfied.
ENERVEX GSV Fans provide:
UL762: Standard for Power Roof Ventilators for Restaurant Exhaust Appliances.
ULC-S645-93: …for Commercial and Institutional Kitchen Exhaust Systems.
GSV009-016 usually adapt directly to an ovens termination while the GSV200-450 will be required to handle hood exhaust and higher static runs. - Residential ovens: For commercial wood or gas ovens in a residence or outside a commercial kitchen application, including food trucks, the RSHT fan may be recommended. RSHT009-016 Fans provide UL378, a standard for draft equipment.
Indoor vs outdoor
Indoor ovens: almost always require a mechanical exhaust system to meet code and keep air clean. Recommended fans for:
Commercial kitchen ( Restaurant ) GSV009-016
GSV9, GSV12, GSV14, GSV16, GSV200, GSV250, GSV315, GSV400, GSV450
Residential oven RSHT009-016
RSHT009, RSHT012, RSHT014, RSHT016
Outdoor ovens: sometimes can rely on natural draft if the chimney is designed well.
For outdoor kitchen, patio, pavilion & food truck applications, the flue systems are notoriously short. RSHT Fans will be recommended as long as local codes and listing are met.
